2011 – major reconstruction of art education system in Russia – Stroganov Academy embraces as her branches five unique art colleges, located in different parts of Russia: in Moscow and Moscow Region, on the Volga River and at the Ural Mountains. (College of Design and Applied Arts (Moscow), Abramtsevo College of Design and Applied Arts named after V. Vasnetsov,  Krasnoselskoie College of Art Metal, Kungur State College of Design and Applied Arts, Ural College of Applied Arts and Design (Nizhniy Tagil)) Each of them has their own artistic traditions in the field of folk arts and crafts.
It might be interesting to know that such a merger was suggested a century ago at the dawn of Soviet Power in Russia.  It was also planned to unite the colleges of Russia around Stroganov School. In 2011 the theoretical idea was practically accomplished. That opened up a new era in the history of Russian decorative and applied arts and crafts.
